Aspire provides a wide range of services in the Glasgow Area.
Resettlement Services
We are currently operating two resettlement services in the north of the city.
The resettlement services provide individual and shared living opportunities to people with on-site 24 hour staff support.
The aim is that individuals live at these supported accommodation services for a period of 6 to 24 months prior to achieving their own permanent tenancy.
Each person has an Occupancy Agreement and is responsible for rent and Council Tax payments as well as for other regular household costs – fuel, food etc. The services enable individuals to develop the confidence and skills that are necessary to maintain tenancies in the future.
The 2 services are:
1. Garscube
This service was established in November 2004 in the north of Glasgow and comprises 10 self-contained flats within one property which is a tenemental close. There is also a staff office and staff sleepover accommodation within the building. Each individual has his/her own Occupancy Agreement which includes a rent and service charge for the furnished accommodation.
2. Merkin House
Merkin House is Aspires newest resettlement service, situated at Purdon Street in the Partick area of Glasgow operational since January 2011. This service provides person centred support to long term and short term individuals within the service. Individuals have their own self contained bedsit flat with private shower and wc. Individuals share communal sitting rooms, kitchens and laundry facilities. Staff are available 24 hours a day and are always on hand to assist individuals and greet visitors to the service. Each individual has his/her own Occupancy Agreement which includes a rent and service charge for the furnished accommodation.
Community Services
We currently work in partnership with the local authority's Homelessness Casework teams in the east and north east of Glasgow to provide a Housing Support service to a wide range of individuals and families living in temporary furnished accommodation. In addition, we work preventatively to support people who are at risk of losing their tenancy and becoming homeless. Referrals come from Community Casework Teams, Social Work, Health Teams and Housing Associations.
Direct Access Services
These services are currently being established to provide both accommodation and low level housing support as required. They are being developed in conjunction with Glasgow City Council's Homelessness Partnership. The accommodation consists of individual rooms with shared kitchens, bathrooms and lounge areas. They are being developed as a short term accommodation measure for individuals who will be assisted to move on to longer term accommodation. The Emergency Accommodation Services provide for those who would otherwise have been accommodated in Bed & Breakfasts. Referrals to these services can be made by the Hamish Allan Centre
