Klibreck residents had a wonderful time at the paint balling event they fund raised for themselves and invited residents from other Midlothian Services to join them.
The young men had agreed to work together to organise an outing which would provide meaningful and enjoyable activity.
The pictures below show them enjoying the day.

This event was organised by Residents and staff based at the Klibreck Service in Midlothian and helped all involved to develop their skills in team work, planning and fund raising.
The first plan of action was to do some fund raising. This involved the residents coming together to suggest some ideas calling on their creative skills! It was decided that car washing would be a fun as well as productive way to fund raise. Resident and staff then worked together to create some eye catching posters which were then distributed throughout the local Aspire services. On the day the team made roughly £50 towards the event.
The next step was using their powers of persuasion to try and get some reduced price tickets from a local business who hold paint balling events. They were very supportive and gave the team an offer too good to refuse as well as some free tickets thrown in as a bonus! By this time all involved were becoming very business minded and decided to sell the remaining tickets to Aspire staff from other services making a profit of £100 which was then used to buy paint balls. This allowed all residents involved to participate and even opened the door to invite people we support in other services in Midlothian including Tenancy Support, Outreach and the St Andrews Street Service.
On the day of the event all had a fantastic time and were able to enjoy a great sense of achievement knowing that they made the event happen through all their hard work and creative energy.
The Staff and residents at Klibreck are now looking to fund raise again as everyone would like to go Go- Karting. There has already been talk of car washing again but this time advertising this through the local Housing Department and the local Social Work Department for extra funds.
The team have also starting fund raising to make well needed improvements to the Klibreck Garden which will allow residents to use the garden for sporting events, social events, as well as somewhere to enjoy some peace and tranquility on the long hot summer days if they ever arrive! So far the local building company have donate free bricks for the residents to build their own BBQ and soil and seeds to brighten up the garden area. It's definitely going to be a productive and busy summer for the people at Klibreck. Look out for updates on this project coming soon.
