Bravery:

One of our staff Maria Stewart was supporting one of our individuals and whilst in their flat heard the neighbours smoke alarm going off.  She opened the flat door and realised the flat was on fire.  She  acted quickly assisting the individual as well as her two dogs out of the flat.  Just after exiting, the windows blew out which was a really near miss for both.

Whilst we need to make sure staff aren’t putting themselves in jeopardy and risk, this was a really selfless act and describes the type of behaviours that so many of you employ every day.  We’re hugely delighted Maria did not injure herself.

Compliments:

We are capturing a lot of the compliments that are coming in for the work you all do – please find a list of these on this news page and contact page - https://www.aspireinc.co.uk/contact

Finance Manager Changes

Our Finance Manager, Brian Bill  will be leaving in a few weeks to move onto another role.  I’m sure I am speaking on behalf of you all to thank Brian for all of the hard work and support he’s provided in his 5 years in Aspire and wish him every success in the future.

Brian has agreed to stay on as an Employee Ownership Trustee and non-executive Director of the company to help provide continuity.

We carried out an extensive recruitment process for Brian’s replacement and have been successful in identifying a new Finance Manager, Anne Wilkie, who will start 11 May 2020.  Anne will work closely with Brian over the next 3 weeks to ensure as smooth a transition as possible as Brian leaves.  She has a great deal of financial experience for us to pull on in the future and  I’m sure you’ll all support me in welcoming Anne to Aspire.

COVID 19:

Thanks again to all of you with the Covid 19 situation.  We are continuing to work hard to ensure everyone has all the PPE they need, when they need it and so far, because of these efforts, we seem to be doing ok with this.

Please read the updated guidance circulated Monday 4th May  https://www.aspireinc.co.uk/news/coronavirus-guidance-for-aspire-staff---updated-3-may-2020 to protect you, your family and those we support.
