Care Inspectorate
An independent regulator of social care and social work services across Scotland. From September 2011 the Care Inspectorate became the independent body that plays a significant role in improving care & support services across Scotland. The Care Inspectorate carries out inspections of services. Aspire always aims to improve the services that individuals receive. We do this by ensuring that every individual with their own unique set of needs and wishes receives the highest quality of care and developmental support and that their right to direct those service as far as possible is always upheld.
Care Inspectorate Reports on Aspire’s Housing Support & Care at Home Services
Aspire's Lothian, Borders and Aberdeenshire Services recently achieved a Grade 6 / Excellent rating from the Care Commission. This grade was achieved for Services Quality of Care and Support and reflects our commitment towards involving people we support and staff in all aspects of meanifuly involving people in the delivery of Local Services and the direction of the wider Organisation. A Service Development Group was established which consists of people we support, staff and managers and worked very hard over the last year to ensure our Services were flexible, responsive and good value. Everyone involved in the Group as well as all of the staff are very proud of our achievement and we will be looking to ensure we maintain the commitment and enthusiasm of all throughout this forthcoming year to achieve another Excellent Grade.
Aspire’s Services in Greater Glasgow received a Grade 6/Excellent in the Care Commission’s evaluation of those Services Quality of Care and Support and again the organisation’s emphasis on empowering the individuals we work alongside was recognised. Scottish Care Awards
Building on our success last year when Amanda McAuley won the Administrator of the Year Award, Aspire had 6 finalists in various categories at the National Scottish Care Awards ceremony held in May this year and attended by over 400 people from a wide variety of providers across Scotland. This event culminated in Aspire winning in 3 categories: Karen Smith, of Glasgow’s East End Community Housing Support Outreach Service won the Coordinator of the Year Award. Margaret Robertson, who manages North Lanarkshire’s Supported Living Service won the Personalisation & Reablement Award & Susan Scott who has received developmental support from Aspire in our Midlothian Service won the Individual Service User Achievement Of The Year Award. Sandy Peacock, who manages the Midlothian Service was a finalist in the Manager of the Year Award and Ann Howe who is a Resettlement Worker in Glasgow was a finalist in the Housing Support Services of the Year, Carer of the Year. As an organisation, Aspire was a finalist in both the Housing Support Provider of the Provider of the Year and in the Business Development Award category.
We are truly delighted at the success of the award winners and indeed all at Aspire for their unstinting commitments in using their talents to help create better futures for the individuals whose interests we serve. We are also delighted that those efforts have been recognised by the Care Commission in its evaluation reports on our work and in the number of Scottish Care Awards that we have received.
